Bombard 500 Explorer
The Bombard Explorer 500 is a compact yet extremely robust RIB from the French brand Bombard, part of the Zodiac Group. A semi-professional all-rounder widely used by divers, water sports enthusiasts, and fishermen, but also in professional applications such as rescue services.
The Explorer series distinguishes itself through its reputation for durability and longevity. The heavy-duty tubes are designed to withstand intensive use, UV radiation, and saltwater – precisely what makes this boat so popular on the second-hand market as well.
Thanks to the extra-deep V-hull, this RIB sails remarkably smoothly, dryly, and with control. As a result, it is not only comfortable but also highly suitable for rougher water, where many 'ordinary' RIBs fall short.
This specific example is exceptionally well maintained and fully equipped.
In 2024, the upholstery was renewed and finished in luxurious Silvertex Diamond-pattern fabric. At the same time, custom-made covers for the console, lean bench, and cool box were produced. Also in 2024, a full tarpaulin and transport cover were custom-fitted. During trips to Lake Garda and Croatia over the past two years, this cover has proven to function excellently: thanks to the perfect fit and fastening, no extra stops are necessary, even at speeds above 110 km/h.
The reliable and economical Mercury 50 hp 4-stroke engine underwent a major service this spring, during which all filters and oils were replaced and the valves were adjusted. The impeller, thermostat, and spark plugs were replaced the year before. Additionally, the steering cable, throttle cables, and fuel hose were replaced preventively.
The included trailer was also thoroughly overhauled in 2024. The tires, wheel bearings, and winch strap were replaced, and a new wiring harness with waterproof LED lighting was installed. Naturally, a spare wheel is also included.
In short, a very complete, reliable, and solidly built set that can be towed directly behind a car and is ready for carefree kilometers and boating pleasure. A viewing is absolutely worthwhile.
